To begin with, the three events I chose were the Battle of Stalingrad, Nuremberg Trials and the Operation Torch. Also, the battle of Stalin grad took place from August 21, 1942 to February 2, 1943 in Stalin grad Surplus, the Nuremberg Trials took place from November 14, 1945 to October 1,1946 in Nazi, Germany. In addition, the Operation Torch took place between November 8, 1942 to Mat 13, 1943 in North Africa. These events effected many people.

To add, the Stalin grad war was a turning point of World War 2. As a result the cause of the war was Hitler, Germany’s leader. Hitler was hoping to capture Stalin grad- it was major industrial city on the Volga River- a vital transport route between the Caspian Sea and Northern Russia. On June 22,1942 Germany invaded the Soviet Union.
Winston Churchill qouted “Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Korneeva,T.)

By the spring of 1942 Hitler wanted to end the fighting that occur on the Eastern Front.
Stalin grad was discipline and determination for both Germany and the Soviet Red Army. Also, Stalin grad was one of the bloodiest battles in human history. At different times of the war Germany held up to 90% of the city.." According to Jones, "Making a stand in such terrible conditions required absolute ruthlessness. "
(Antill,P.)

Lastly, the Battle of Stalin grad war lasted 199 days. The Axis suffered 850,000 casualties
Between 1943 and 1955, 400,000 Germans, 200,000 Romanians, 130,000 Italians and 120,000 Hungarians were wounded, killed or captured. Overall, 750,000 people were killed for the whole Stalin grad Area.Winston Churchill qouted" When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite".
(Proyect, Louis.)

Plus, the Nuremberg Trials tried 24 of the most important leaders captured of Nazi, Germany The trials took place from November 14,1945 to October 1,1946.In addition the first trials was of the Major War Criminals. Most were found guilty. But, only
Tree were found not guilty. As the trial got underway prosecutor Sir Hartley Shawcross
Grumbled “What matters it if some forfeited their lives only a thousand times whilst others deserved a million deaths?” (Gilbert)

The horrifying punishment of those found guilty could be death,or imprisonment. There were four counts of the indictment, including Conspiracy to commitment crimes alleged in other counts, crimes against humanity, crimes against peace, and War Crimes. The three people found not guilty were Hjalmar Schact,Franz von Papen, and Hans Fritsche.
Fritsche was so happy he whiperd “to be set free right here, and not even be sent back to Russia”. (Gilbert)

To add, Himmlers Action Commandos witnessed the horrors and extermination of the Jews. One of them described “without screaming or weeping these people undressed, stood around in family groups, kissed eachother, said farewells and waited for a sign from another SS man, who stood near the Pit, also with a whip in his hand”. (Gilbert)

On October 14-15 1946 Hitler chose suicide. All of the other defendants found guilty were executed. The Nuremberg Trials effected many Jews, because the Germans hated the Jews.
(Sanjar, Tina

The Operation Torch took place on November 8, 1942 to May 13, 1943.Also, the Operation Torch took place in Africa. The Operation Torch included Germany and Italy
Allies against France and Britain. The Soviet Union had pressed the United States and Britain to start operations in Europe, and open a second front to reduce the pressure of German forces on the Russian troops. While the American commanders favored Operation Sledgehammer, landing in Occupied Europe as soon as possible, the British commanders believed that such a course would end in disaster. An attack on French North Africa was proposed instead, which would clear the Axis Powers from North Africa, improve naval control of the Mediterranean Sea, and prepare an invasion of Southern Europe.(O'Donell T.)

Also, In July, 1942, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill decided that the Allies should open a Second Front to help the Red Army fighting in the Soviet Union. Joseph Stalin favoured an invasion of Europe but Roosevelt and Churchill opted for an invasion of northwest Africa. Given the code-name Operation Torch, General Dwight D. Eisenhower was appointed Allied commander of the invasion.
Over 100,000 Vichy troops were stationed in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. It was hoped that the French troops not to resist the Allied invasion. On 7th November, Eisenhower had a secret meeting with General Henri Giraud in Gibraltar. Eisenhower told Giraud about Operation Torch and persuaded him to become commander of French forces in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia after the invasion of North Africa.
(Overy,Richard)

By April 1943 the Allies had over 300,000 men in Tunisia. This gave them a 6-to-1 advantage in troops and a 15-to-1 superiority in tanks. The Allied blockade of the Mediterranean also made it difficult for the German Army to be supplied with adequate amounts of fuel, ammunition and food. The Allies now decided to make another effort to take Tunis. General Omar Bradley, who had replaced General George Patton, as commander of the 2nd Corps, joined General Bernard Montgomery for the offensive. On 23rd April the 300,000 man force advanced along a 40 mile front. At the same time there was a diversionary attack by the 8th Army at Enfidaville.
(Swanson,Robert)

One of the first to be considered was, would the French in North Africa oppose the landings. The conquered nation had been irate with the British since the Royal Navy sank part of the French fleet earlier in the war, to keep them out of Hitler’s grasp. However, Americans would be leading the way. Had not France and the US been allies since the latter’s War of Independence? It was to this purpose that General Clark braved the Axis infested African coast to learn if the French would fight. His undertaking was less than successful, but daring nonetheless.

In conclusion, these events effected a lot of people. These events were all part of the Holocaust. These people will not be forgotten. The Holocaust will always be part of history.Hitler wanted to exterminate the Jews. The Holocaust also included several events.
